For the parent who did not start this conversation

Someone shared this with you. Here is exactly what it is.

Your co-parent is looking at a 12-week program called Family Forward, where the two of you would build a co-parenting agreement for your kids with a coach in the room. Before you decide anything, you deserve a plain answer to the two questions you're probably asking: what is this, and what is it not.

What it is

  • One session a week for 12 weeks, most of them 60 minutes, the two of you and the coach.
  • Each session works through one defined part of family life: the schedule, school, money, holidays, screens, new partners, or what happens when you disagree.
  • Each decision is written into one document you both review and sign, creating a reference point when the question comes up again.
  • It starts with a separate intake call for each parent. Lauren explains what is private, what must be brought into the joint work, and the safety limits to confidentiality, such as child protection duties, before you begin.

What it is not

  • Not therapy, and not about relitigating the relationship or deciding who was right.
  • Not legal proceedings. Nothing here is legal advice, and the agreement is not a court order. Your lawyer stays your lawyer.
  • Not two against one. The coach's job is to hold the room steady for both of you, not to take a side.
  • Not a commitment today. The first step is a free 30-minute call, and you can take that call on your own.

Worth saying plainly: considering the program isn't an admission that your co-parent was right. It's a chance to see whether a structured process could help both of you make the decisions ahead. Disagreement is expected, and the sessions are designed to work with it.

A workable co-parenting structure does not require perfect agreement.
It requires a way to make decisions, communicate changes, and keep children out of adult disputes.
If you're open to one step

Take your own discovery call. Just you.

Thirty minutes, free, no obligation, and your co-parent doesn't need to be on it. Ask Lauren anything, including whether this can possibly work when things are as tense as they are. If it's not the right fit, she'll say so.
